Today’s NY Times explains that in the USA Visa is gouging merchants when customers use Visa-branded debit cards. Are there any banks that don’t use Visa for their debit cards? (I have much more loyalty to the merchants I do business with than to the banks.)http://www.nytimes.com/2010/01/05/your-m…

To explain further, my company intend to launch Photo Glossy Paper with our own brand, and we need a name. As for the Membership Card, my company intend to launch a loyalty membership card to keep customer, just like Jaya Jusco Card, Metrojaya card, bonuslink Card, and etc. However, we do not want the company membership card too restricted to maintain the our main products only, but would like to add on other benefits in future, i.e. special discount on buying consumables, special discount on F&B etc

The anticipated chaos has not ensued following my temporary re-location from the car park to our supermarket walnut section, demand for which said nut has now slowed to a crawl. Still in-store, I person the enquiry desk while competent staff open extra till positions. One customer asked whether we supply ten birds, all inserted inside one another in order of size? I have reported her to the RSPB and withdrawn her loyalty card.

i work for First National Bank of Omaha. First National’s Credit Card division is placing a lot of focus on “Innovation” for 2010. With all the government law changes, the banks profit margins are being squeezed. So First National is encouragin everyone to think innovative every day. With this effort, employees may be rewarded for ideas, process changes, etc that help improve the profit margin or reduce expenses.
So what i am hoping, is for all of you to think innovatively about credit cards and your habits involving them.
Some ideas that may help spark your thoughts:
- Changing the design/look of the card to better entice customer loyalty
- Many cards have reward options such as frequent flier miles, cash back, discount on gas pump price, reduced interest of fees for good behaviors. What would entice you to use a card?
-new laws are affecting interest rate increases, late fees, over the limit fees, annual fees, etc. Can you think of other measures that help create more income or reduced expenses?
PLEASE HELP ME. I NEED A QUICK ANSWER PLEASE!!!!!!!! ANYONE WHO CAN, PLEASE GIVE ME SOME TIPS!!!!!!!!
THANK YOU SO MUCH TO ANYONE WHO ANSWERS!!!!!!

For our company holiday card, we wanted one that reflected our product line. We held a vote and our salesstaff chose the image of a “Santa Claus” driving a forklift and loading up his sleigh. We also included a generic message (Wishing you and yours loads of holiday cheer today and throughout the New Year). If you are / were a non-christian business owner, would this card offend you?
Our goals are to 1) thank our customers for their continued loyalty 2) Spread holiday cheer and 3) Produce a card that represents our company (forklift / material handling dealer). Thanks

I’ve just finally started a new job! Yippee. Only I’ve now got a problem
I’m struggling to get customers to say yes to signing up to a reward/loyalty card, it’s totally free and obviously you get points everytime you spend. I’ve been mentioning that and it’s not working. I know that you have to come across confident but I really struggle when there is a work collegue, especially if it’s the manager, behind me as I get all quite and don’t want to do anything wrong.
Basically, any tips or ideas, even advise, will help me loads. As it’s my first job I’m hoping you all can kinda guess how nervous I look while I stand at the till.
Even things to watch out for as I’ve been told that some people will only like to be asked twice and if anymore they will just walk out and buy the items elsewhere, is this really true?
Thanks

Does a grocery store that has its customers participate in their loyalty program have the ability to track, and report on, customer spending trends. For example, I belong to 3 different stores’ loyalty programs. Could I go to a particular store and get a report on what has been purchased in a particular time frame?

I need to compare GAAP’s and IFRS way of dealing with gift cards, rebate, and loyalty programs. The main idea is that a store is giving out gift cards for customers who spend a certain amount. The first would be a gift card and how it will be accounted for in accounting. The second would be rebate, which i know is one of the wrong ways but, I’m required to list all possible ways on how to deal with such situations. The rebate is practically just a way of how a company gives a discount when the revenue is recognized. The third and recommended way would be to treat it as a loyalty program where customers are rewarded if certain conditions are satisfied.
Right now i’m only focused on finding out IFRS’ way of how do deal with all 3. There are no right or wrong answers but only ideas as to how it will be dealt.
If it is too much work then please list only what you know and if possible just cite some credible sources as to where you found it. A reliable source would be from FASB.
Thank you in advance.
